It had gone beyond her, beyond everything (1). He had thrown himself into it with a creative passion, adding to it all the time, decking it out with every bright feather that drifted his way (2). No amount of fire or freshness can challenge what a man can store up in his ghostly heart (3).’

  1. Everything Gatsby had done was ‘beyond’ what Daisy wanted it was more than everything she ever wanted.
  2. He had so much passion to making this better than perfect life for Daisy, adding everything and anything to make it perfect for Daisy.
  3. Nothing could change the was his empty heart felt for Daisy. Even though it was so empty he had so much love still left in for Daisy.
